A rising cyber scam known as “pig butchering” is targeting victims globally, including in the U.S. and China. Scam centers, primarily operating out of Myanmar and Southeast Asia, use deceptive relationships to lure unsuspecting individuals into fraudulent cryptocurrency investments. Between 2020 and 2024, these scams have cost victims over $75 billion globally.
Be cautious of any unsolicited investment opportunities, especially in cryptocurrencies. If someone you meet online tries to persuade you to invest in new crypto projects, consult trusted financial advisors and do thorough research before committing. Remember, once your money is transferred, it may be impossible to recover!
