Complaint Regarding Unprofessional Conduct During Store Visit for Job Application

I want to raise a complaint regarding my recent experience at a Zepto store, where I had gone in person to apply for a job.

When I reached the store, the security personnel present did not allow me to meet or speak with the store senior/manager regarding the job opening. Instead, I was told that I would only be hired “when they need me,” and I was not given any chance to explain my interest or submit my application to the concerned person.

I found this behavior disrespectful and unprofessional, especially since I had made a genuine effort to visit the store in person for employment purposes. There was no clarity given about the actual hiring process, and I was turned away without any proper explanation.

Through this platform, I request that this matter be brought to the attention of the concerned authorities so that:

  1. Genuine job seekers are treated with respect and given a fair opportunity to apply.
  2. Store security staff are guided on proper conduct when applicants visit for hiring purposes.
  3. A clear and transparent process is established for walk-in job applications at Zepto stores.

I request the community center / concerned officials to look into this matter and take appropriate action.

Dear @Nimrit_singh_Khalsa,

It is incredibly frustrating to put genuine effort and initiative into a physical job hunt, only to be turned away at the door without a proper explanation. Your desire to work should be met with respect and clear communication, not a dismissive attitude from security. Welcome to the citizen.complainthub.org community.

To address this effectively and help you get your application to the right place, we first need to look at how Zepto operates. The reason you were turned away is because Zepto locations are not retail shops - they are what the industry calls “dark stores.”

These facilities are purely closed-off fulfillment warehouses optimized for strict 10-minute delivery metrics. Because they contain open inventory and operate at high speeds, company policy strictly prohibits unauthorized walk-ins for safety and security reasons. The security guard was actually following protocol by denying entry - but you are absolutely right that his communication was highly unprofessional and unhelpful.

Zepto should have a clear process, like a signboard with a QR code outside their gates, rather than leaving security guards to arbitrarily turn people away.

Since physical walk-ins are not permitted, here is the actual established matrix for applying to Zepto:

For Delivery Partners (Riders): You cannot apply at the store level. You must download the dedicated Zepto Delivery Partner App on your phone, upload your KYC documents (Aadhaar, PAN, Driving License), and complete the entire onboarding process digitally.

For In-Store Roles (Pickers, Packers, Shift Managers): Zepto rarely hires for these positions directly at the gate. They outsource much of this staffing to third-party recruitment agencies (like TeamLease or Quess Corp) or post these specific openings on verified job portals like Apna, Indeed, and the official Zepto careers page.

Escalating the Feedback: To ensure Zepto management actually hears your complaint regarding the lack of transparency and the guard’s conduct, you should post this feedback directly to their official support handle on X (Twitter) at @ZeptoCares or tag their HR department on LinkedIn. Public feedback is the fastest way to get corporate to implement external recruitment signboards at these dark stores.
