Complete Grievance & Complaint Guide: How to Escalate Issues with SoFi

Verified: February 2026

Important Safety Warning: Beware of fake customer service numbers on Google. Scammers frequently buy ads to promote fraudulent phone numbers. Only use official channels listed below or securely within your SoFi app.

Level 1: Customer Support (Initial Complaint)

  • How to complain: Contact SoFi via their Help Center at sofi.com/contact-us or call their dedicated Complaints and Feedback line at 1-855-456-7634. You can also use the secure messaging feature within your SoFi Online Account Portal.
  • Availability: Live phone support is available Monday–Thursday 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. PT, and Friday–Sunday 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PT. (Note: Only the automated virtual assistant chat is available 24/7).
  • Timeline: Wait 3 to 5 business days for an initial response and resolution attempt.

Level 2: Formal Written Escalation

  • Who to contact: If Level 1 is unsuccessful, you must send a formal written notice of dispute by mail. Because the San Francisco headquarters does not process member mail, you must use the official P.O. Box designated for your specific account type:
    • For Credit Cards, Personal Loans, or Personal Lines of Credit: SoFi Credit Bureau Dispute, P.O. Box 654081, Dallas, TX 75265-4081.
    • For Active Student Loans: SoFi, P.O. Box 82546, Lincoln, NE 68501-2546.
  • Timeline: Processing physical mail takes time. Expect a minimum of 7 to 14 business days for receipt and routing to the appropriate department.

Level 3: Federal Regulatory Authority (Government Escalation)

  • Authority: CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau) for banking and lending issues.
  • Portal/Contact: File a complaint online at the official portal: consumerfinance.gov/complaint or call 1-855-411-2372.
  • Timeline: The CFPB aims to forward your complaint to SoFi within 15 calendar days and expects a full response and resolution from SoFi within 60 days.

Level 4: Legal Action & Small Claims (Final Step)

  • State Attorney General: File a consumer complaint with your local State Attorney General’s Office through their official website.
  • Small Claims / Arbitration: File a case in Small Claims Court or initiate Binding Arbitration as outlined in your specific SoFi account agreement.
