Dear Sir/Madam,
Good day. I hope this email finds you well.
We are residents of usarathu vilai ,Keezhkulam, Kanyakumari District (629193), under the Puthukadai EB office jurisdiction. We are facing a recurring issue of daily power cuts in our area for about one hour during night time, usually between 10:00 PM and 12:00 AM.
This issue has been continuing for the past few weeks and is causing significant inconvenience to residents. We have already raised a complaint with the local EB office in Puthukadai, but we have not received a proper response or resolution so far.
Due to the current high temperatures, this situation is especially difficult for families with children, elderly residents, and others in the area. We kindly request you to look into this issue urgently and take necessary action to resolve the frequent power cuts.
We would appreciate your prompt attention to this matter.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully,
Abishek M
Dear @Abishek_M,
We understand how unbearable daily power cuts can be, especially late at night and during the current high temperatures. It is completely unacceptable that the local Puthukadai EB office has ignored your complaints while residents, including children and the elderly, are suffering.
Since the local office is unresponsive, you must escalate this issue to higher authorities within TANGEDCO (Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation). Please take the following steps immediately:
1. Call the ‘Minnagam’ Helpline: TANGEDCO has a centralized, 24x7 consumer grievance redressal center called “Minnagam.” Dial 94987 94987 immediately. Clearly state that this is a recurring daily issue in Keezhkulam (629193) and that the Puthukadai EB office is taking no action. Complaints registered here are tracked at the headquarters level, which forces local officials to act. Always ask for your complaint ticket number.
2. Register an Online Complaint: File a formal grievance on the official TANGEDCO portal (tangedco.org) under the “Reach Us” or “Consumer Grievance” section, or use the official TNEB mobile app. Getting a digital docket number is crucial for further escalation.
3. Escalate to Higher Officials: If the issue is not resolved within 24-48 hours after calling Minnagam, you need to escalate the matter to the Executive Engineer (EE) or the Superintending Engineer (SE) of the Kanyakumari Electricity Distribution Circle. You can usually find their official CUG (Closed User Group) mobile numbers listed on the TANGEDCO website.
4. Chief Minister’s Helpline (1100): If the electricity board continues to neglect your area, you can file a mass grievance through the Tamil Nadu CM Helpline by dialing 1100 or registering on the Mudhalvarin Mugavari portal. Mentioning that the entire Usarathu Vilai area is affected will prioritize the complaint.
Please try dialing the Minnagam helpline (94987 94987) today and let us know if they provide a docket number and a resolution timeline.
