To,
The Chief Educational Officer / Director of School Education,
Tamil Nadu School Education Department
Respected Sir/Madam,
I am writing on behalf of students who travel long distances to school. At present, school ends at 4:00 PM. Many students live 15 to 20 km away and need about an hour to travel each way. Bus services on these routes are limited, so after school students often wait a long time for a bus and reach home late in the evening.
Because of this:
- Students get home tired, with little time left to rest, eat properly or revise.
- Travelling in the evening, sometimes after dark, is a safety concern, especially for girls.
- The long school day plus the long journey adds to stress and affects studies and health.
I request the department to consider reducing the school closing time, or to allow flexible timings for students who live far from school, so that they can reach home earlier and with less stress. I also request that bus services be improved on the long-distance routes.
I would be grateful if you could look into this and take suitable action.
Thanking you,
