Industry: EdTech / Online Education
Jurisdiction: India
Primary Regulator: Department of Consumer Affairs (CCPA) & India EdTech Consortium (IEC)
Important Safety Warning: Beware of the “Fake EdTech Refund Scam.” Scammers frequently buy ads on Google displaying fake Vedantu customer service helplines. This is a scam. Vedantu staff will never ask you to download a screen-sharing app (like AnyDesk) or ask for your UPI PIN to process a “refund” for a cancelled course.
Level 1: Customer Support (Initial Complaint)
How to complain: Do not search for random phone numbers online. Open the Vedantu App or website and navigate to the ‘Help’ section to log your initial ticket or use the “Ask Vedantu” chat box. You can email their central support desk at vcare@vedantu.com (especially for refund requests). You can also call their official national toll-free customer care helpline at 1800-120-456-456 or +91-9886602456. You must ensure you receive a unique ticket or reference number.
Availability: The customer care helpline and email desk operate daily from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM IST.
Timeline: Standard resolution for app technical issues, batch access, or refund requests is typically within 7 to 10 business days.
Level 2: Internal Escalation (Grievance Officer)
Who to contact: If Level 1 fails to resolve your technical issue, or if you have a dispute regarding course refunds, you must escalate it internally. Write an email to the designated Grievance Officer at grievance@vedantu.com, clearly stating your original Level 1 ticket number.
Timeline: Under the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 and IEC guidelines, the grievance desk must legally acknowledge your complaint within 48 hours and resolve it within 30 days from the date of receipt.
Level 3: Regulatory Authority (National Consumer Helpline)
Authority: Department of Consumer Affairs (National Consumer Helpline).
Portal/Contact: If Vedantu’s Grievance Officer rejects your claim, or the company fails to address a severe deficiency in service (like failure to deliver promised live classes or unwarranted batch cancellations), you have exhausted internal remedies. You must register your grievance on the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) by calling 1915 or visiting consumerhelpline.gov.in.
Level 4: Legal Action (Final Step)
Pre-Litigation: Ensure you have documented all correspondence, including the final rejection from the Grievance Officer, to serve as evidence. Written legal notices must be sent via physical post (Registered Post AD) to their registered corporate headquarters: Grievance Officer, Vedantu Innovations Pvt. Ltd., D. No. 1081, 3rd Floor, Vistar Arcade, 14th Main Rd, Sector 3, HSR Layout, Bangalore, Karnataka – 560102.
Court/Arbitration: If pre-litigation fails, file a formal complaint for “Deficiency of Service” or “Unfair Trade Practices” against Vedantu Innovations Pvt. Ltd. You can file this case entirely online with the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission using the government’s unified e-Jagriti portal (e-jagriti.gov.in).
Community Action: Is Vedantu refusing to process a refund after a promised educator left, or did you face issues with the Vedantu Improvement Promise (VIP)? Reply below (do not share your passwords, loan documents, or full billing details), and our community will point you to the right resources!
