Hello,
I am sharing this message to bring urgent attention to a very concerning pattern happening on online singing platforms like Smule. A very close friend of mine was recently affected by this, and I felt it was important to raise awareness for the safety of other women. I am trying to reach relevant officials but not able to do so as I am outside India.
There is a man on the platform who uses different profiles and hidden accounts to connect with women singers — especially financially independent women, usually between 40 and 55 years of age.
Summary of His Pattern:
• Starts by sending friendly duet requests and engaging in musical collaborations.
• Moves conversations quickly to private chats (like WhatsApp) to build personal connections.
• He is a very talented singer with a divine voice, and comes across as smooth, polished, and
intelligent — which makes him difficult to suspect.
• Gains emotional trust by sharing hardship stories and indirectly asking for financial help, often
through emotional pressure. Once emotional dependence is created, he slowly distances himself if
demands are not met.
• Builds emotional and physical closeness only to later take advantage of it.
• Makes sure to take photographs during meetings, which could potentially be used for emotional
pressure if needed.
• Cuts off contact or blocks women once they start questioning him or refuse to continue supporting
him and immediately seeks new targets.
Current Situation:
• My friend experienced emotional, financial, and physical exploitation, including significant financial
loss. Though, she takes accepted her loss and taken it as lesson learned for her mistakes but she
still wants the authority to take some action against that person so it does not happen to another
sister
• Besides her, there is at least one more confirmed case and another strongly suspected case. We can
see that he is still on hunt for new with same confidence, without any shame, remorse or fear!
• Sadly, many more women might be silently suffering due to fear of judgment or shame.
Why I Am Sharing This:
• Please be very careful when connecting with people online, even if they seem talented, polished,
and respectful.
• Emotional closeness can be built very cleverly, making it harder to realize when you are being used.
• Protect your personal space, your emotions, and your finances.
• If you feel uncomfortable at any point, trust your instincts, and quietly distance yourself.
I am posting this only to raise awareness and protect other sisters, wives, and daughters who might unknowingly fall into such traps.
Also, I want to mention that I tried to access Indian cybercrime reporting websites to officially report this matter, but since I am currently outside India, I was unable to access those government portals to file the complaint.
Thank you for reading.
Please stay safe and take care of yourselves.
— A concerned sister and friend
