A Bengaluru software engineer recently lost Rs 4.5 lakh by responding to a WhatsApp message that looked like it was from his boss. The message came around Diwali and asked him to buy Apple gift cards quickly, saying it was for clients. Being a new hire, he wanted to impress and went ahead with the purchase, but later found out it wasn’t really from his boss.
So, please be careful! If you get a message with a link or any contact details asking for money, gift cards, or any sensitive information—even if it looks like it’s from a trusted contact—always double-check with them directly before acting. These scammers play on our trust, so let’s be aware, stay alert, and save each other from falling into these traps!
