If you have already held a valid Learners’ Licence for at least 30 days to be competent to appear for the test of competence. Then you have appeared for the driving test conducted by the competent authority, where you have demonstrated the capability to drive the vehicle and perform tasks specified in Rule-15 (2) of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR).
Finally, If you have successfully passed the test, your driving license will be issued online by the respective Regional Transport Office (RTO) and sent via speed post to the provided address.
But usually, it takes about 1-2 weeks. They need to verify your documents, update their records, and mail you the physical card.
Sometimes, there might be a bit of a delay. This could be because of a backlog of applications, some technical issue, or if there’s something they need to double-check in your application. If that happens, it might take up to a month.
Tips: A few things can speed up the process. Prefer to submit your application online. Also, make sure all your information and documents are accurate so there are no holdups.
Once you’ve applied, you can usually track your application status online through the Parivahan portal (parivahan.gov.in).
And if you do run into any long delays, don’t hesitate to contact the RTO. You can file your driving license complaints online through the Parihavan portal or the state RTO section.
