Dear @kamogelo_mayaba Ji

As per your concern, you are a Grade 10 student at Mabuya Secondary School in Gauteng, South Africa, and you are experiencing serious issues with a teacher who still uses corporal punishment and recently tore your homework. Corporal punishment in schools is strictly prohibited under South African law and the South African Schools Act, 1996 (Section 10). This teacher’s behavior violates your basic rights to dignity and education under the South African Constitution (Bill of Rights, Sections 12 and 28).

You can write a complaint letter to the Principal with the date, time, and description of each incident of corporal punishment or any other form of misconduct. If possible, ask classmates to act as witnesses and support your claim.

Ask for a formal investigation and request that steps be taken to protect you and other students from further abuse.

You should also inform your parents or guardians about the situation and ask them to intervene by meeting with the school authorities. They can submit a formal written complaint to the school principal or governing body.

Further, you may file a complaint with the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE).* Contact the GDE’s district office or use their toll-free number to report the incident.Gauteng Department of Education Contacts:
