I am writing this on behalf of the residents of the lane leading from the Head Post Office Road, Nainital, to bring to your kind attention several ongoing issues that have made daily life extremely difficult and unsafe for those of us living here.
The following concerns require urgent intervention:
- Unauthorised Parking:
Vehicles, especially two-wheelers, are being parked along the entire stretch of the road, severely restricting space for pedestrians. Residents, including elderly people and children, find it difficult to even cross or walk on the road safely. - Poor Road Condition:
The road is in a highly dilapidated state, with visible cracks, broken surfaces, and exposed bricks (as seen in the attached photographs). This poses a serious risk to both pedestrians and vehicles. - Broken Drain Covers:
The drainage system on this road is not only poorly maintained but also dangerous. Several drain covers are either broken or missing, leading to garbage accumulation and posing a major safety hazard, especially during rains. - Traffic Congestion at Old Mohan-Co Chowk:
The bottleneck created at the old Mohan-Co chowk further aggravates the traffic situation. During peak tourist season, the situation becomes chaotic, with vehicles stuck for long periods and people unable to pass. - Constant Hotel Traffic:
Several hotels operate right alongside this narrow lane. Due to their high tourist intake throughout the year, heavy vehicular movement and additional parking pressure persist year-round, not just during peak seasons.
We, the residents, have been enduring these issues for a long time and humbly request your prompt action to:
- Regulate parking on the lane leading from the Head Post Office Road.
- Repair and resurface the road at the earliest.
- Replace and secure the broken drainage covers.
- Address the congestion and mismanagement at Old Mohan-Co chowk through proper traffic regulation.
- Implement stricter norms for hotels contributing to road blockage and traffic.
We look forward to your support and a timely resolution of these civic concerns. Please consider this an urgent matter of public safety and convenience.
Thanking you in anticipation.
