In Banglore.
Police caught me for not wearing helmet. and they asked me to pay the fine on the spot through cash or upi. when i asked them to issue e-challan, they refused to give. and if i want to pay later, they will seize my bike and not give me until i pay.
Is this how it is handled?
Then why do we have a concept called e-challan?
Please educate me.
In Bengaluru, traffic police are authorized to issue e-challans for violations like not wearing a helmet. They cannot force you to pay on the spot via cash/UPI or threaten bike seizure solely for wanting to pay later. You’re entitled to receive an e-challan and pay it online via https://echallan.parivahan.gov.in. If such coercion occurs, you can report it to Bengaluru Traffic Police or file a complaint on their citizen portal.
