There are three ways to file a complaint about electricity services with the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TANGEDCO) including issues related to no power supply, new connections, or billing disputes:
TANGEDCO Electricity Helplines:
- Helpline Number: Dial the TNEB’s toll-free number 1912 / 0441912 or +919498794987 to voice your concerns directly to a customer care executive.
- WhatsApp: Send a message to +919445850811 for TANGEDCO services.
- Email: Send an email to cpro@tnebnet.org.
You can also visit your local TANGEDCO office (sub-station/divisional office) and submit a written complaint letter.
Steps to file an online complaint:
- Visit the official TANGEDCO website (tangedco.org/en/tangedco/).
- Navigate to the “Reach Us” and select the “Consumer’s Complaint” section.
- Click “Click here to Register/Login” to open the complaint management system.
- Open the online complaint form by logging in or registering yourself.
- Fill out the form including customer ID, incident location, and issue description.
- Submit the form.
Finally, note down the reference/ticket ID. You can also use the provided mobile app to lodge your electricity complaint or access online power distribution services of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board Ltd.
Escalate to the Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum (CGRF)
If you are unhappy with TANGEDCO’s response or if your complaint remains unresolved after a reasonable time, you can escalate your complaint to the CGRF. The CGRF is a designated forum to handle more complex consumer electricity complaints. You can file a complaint with the CGRF online or in person (download the grievance form) at their office (Division) within your electricity distribution circle.

Appeal to Electricity Ombudsman, of Tamil Nadu
This is the highest level for appeals. If the CGRF’s resolution is unsatisfactory, you can approach the Electricity Ombudsman of Tamil Nadu. You can appeal by submitting a written representation letter or form to the Electricity Ombudsman at the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC).
