If you want to report crimes or incidents or file a police complaint or e-FIR (non-cognizable offences) to Himachal Pradesh (HP) Police, follow these steps and use the provided helplines & contact details of respective officials:
Steps to file an online complaint or e-FIR:
You can file a police complaint that is a less formal way to report an incident, either orally or in writing for both cognizable (serious) and non-cognizable (less serious) offences. Further, you may file an FIR (First Information Report), written report of a cognizable offense, at a police station. Follow these steps for online complaint/e-FIR:
- Visit the HP Police Citizen Portal (citizenportal.hppolice.gov.in)
*Click “Create an account” or log in to CCTNS portal. - Select “e-FIR or online police complaint” and follow the instructions to open the online form.
- Provide the required details (your information, incident details, victim details, etc.).
- Attach any supporting documents (photos, videos, etc.).
- Submit the e-FIR or police complaint.
Finally, note down the reference/case number for future tracking.
If you are visiting a local police station, provide details of the incident to the officer in charge, a written statement, and any supporting evidence. Don’t forget to obtain a copy of the FIR (free of cost) as a proof.
