Online Complaint/e-FIR: You can file an e-FIR for specific categories like vehicle theft, lost property, missing persons, and others by visiting the Tamil Nadu Police Citizen Portal (tnpolice.gov.in). Then, select “Chennai City” and your local police station within the Chennai Police jurisdiction and complete the e-FIR form with accurate details.

Local Police Station: Visit the nearest police station to report your incident verbally or in writing. If the offence is cognizable (serious, requiring immediate action), you must report it to the local police station.
If you choose to write your FIR on plain paper, include:**
- Your name and contact details as the complainant.
- A detailed and accurate description of the incident.
- Relevant personal details, including names, addresses, and identification numbers of involved parties.
- Evidence you possess (photographs, videos, receipts, etc.).
Always obtain an acknowledgement number or a copy of the FIR for future reference.
