How can I file police complaint or e-FIR to Telangana Police?

If you want to file a police complaint or e-FIR to Telangana State Police (TSP) including issues related to civic crimes, theft (properties, jewellery, smartphone, vehicles, etc.), police administration grievances, illegal activities, and other civil/criminal incidents including non-cognizable and cognizable offences, follow these steps and use the provided contact details:

File a police complaint or e-FIR:

You can file a police complaint or e-FIR online through the CCTNS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems) citizen portal of the Telangana state police. The online e-FIR facility is available only for non-cognizable offences (e.g. theft, civil crimes, illegal activities, and other cases). To report a cognizable offence or serious crime, you have to lodge an FIR at the nearest local police station.

You should know that a police complaint is an informal complaint, submitted orally or in writing, for both cognizable (serious) and non-cognizable offences. An FIR is a formal record of a cognizable offence, filed at a police station, to initiate an official investigation.

Provide the following information while lodging a complaint/FIR

  • Your Information: Name, address, contact details.
  • Accused Information (if known): Name, description, any known details.
  • Incident Details: Date, time, location, detailed description of what happened.
  • Evidence: Photos, videos, documents, or any other supporting materials.

Steps to file an online police complaint/e-FIR:

  • Visit Telangana Police’s CCTNS portal (tspolice.gov.in).
  • Navigate to the “Citizen Services” section from the menu.
  • Click “Police Services through Mee Seva” to log in or register yourself as a citizen.
  • Choose “Lodge police complaint” to open the online complaint form.
  • Fill out the form with the required details including names of the accused, location, and description of the crime/incident.
  • Submit the form.

Finally, note down the reference/FIR number to track the status.

If your police complaint is not addressed within 20 days, you may request to register the complaint as an FIR. Additionally, visit the nearest local police station to submit a written complaint or provide an oral report. If you file an FIR, ask for a free copy of the FIR and an acknowledgement receipt from the designated officer or SHO.

Telangana State Police Helpline Number:

In an emergency, dial 112 (TSP-ERSS) to contact police, fire, medical, or GRP or call the toll-free number 100 for direct access to the police control room. To report a cybercrime, call 1930 or file an online complaint through the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal.
