File a Police Complaint or e-FIR:
Initially, you can file a police complaint online through the CCTNS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems) portal of the state police for written or oral complaints for cognizable (serious) and non-cognizable offences. Further, you may lodge an FIR (First Information Report) which is a formal record of information related to cognizable offences, initiating a police investigation.
For investigation of any cognizable offence, you have to file an FIR at the nearest local police station. Don’t forget to obtain a copy of FIR with reference/case number from SHO or a designated officer free of cost.
Steps to file an online police complaint and e-FIR:
- Visit the Chhattisgarh Police CCTNS portal (cgstate.gov.in/).
- Click “CCTNS for citizen (citizenportal.cgpolice.gov.in)” from the menu.
- Login or register yourself as a citizen.
- Click “Online complaint” to open the online complain/e-FIR form.
- Fill out the form by providing accurate information about yourself, the incident, the victim (if any), the accused (if known), location, date, time, and any supporting evidence.
- Upload supporting documents.
- Submit the form.
