Uniform Civil Code, Uttarakhand, Rules, 2025

The Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Uttarakhand, Rules, 2025 provides a single legal framework for managing personal laws related to marriage, divorce, inheritance, adoption, and succession. These rules apply to everyone in Uttarakhand, no matter their religion or community. The aim is to ensure fairness, equality, and transparency in legal matters across the state.

Key Features of the Rules

Marriage and Divorce processes have been simplified with easy registration for both marriages and divorces. Court decisions for nullified marriages are formally acknowledged, and live-in relationships can be registered or terminated.

For Inheritance and Succession, the rules offer clear guidelines for creating and registering wills under Testamentary Succession. Intestate Succession helps determine legal heirs and facilitates asset distribution when someone passes away without a will.

Adoption procedures are clearly outlined in the rules, ensuring smoother processes. Additionally, a system for declaring and verifying legal heirs is in place to prevent disputes.

Grievance Redressal is an important feature of the portal. It allows citizens to register complaints against individuals or government officials, including sub-registrars and registrars, who fail to act within the given timeframes. Complaints can be submitted and tracked through an accessible online platform.

Service Options

The fee and delivery time for services on the portal depend on the type of service. For example, the fee for marriage registration under the Standard service is ₹250, and it takes 15 days to complete, while the Tatkal service costs ₹2500 and is completed within 3 days. Similarly, the fees and timelines for other services, such as divorce registration, will registration, or legal heir declaration, are determined in the same manner. Additionally, Aadhaar-based registration is also available for added convenience.

Access to Data and Certificates

The portal ensures secure access for downloading and verifying important certificates such as marriage certificates, legal heir declarations, wills, and more.
