How can I file a police complaint or e-FIR to UP Police?

If you want to file a police complaint or e-FIR for cognizable/non-cognizable civil offences (including civil/criminal cases, citizen services, theft, illegal activities, and police harassment) to Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police, follow these steps or use the provided helplines or contact details to file your complaint with Uttar Pradesh Police:

Steps to file an online police complaint or e-FIR:

  1. Visit UP Police’s official website (uppolice.gov.in)
  2. Navigate to “Citizen Services” section of the menu.
  3. Click “Complaint Registration or e-FIR” to open the CCTNS citizen portal.
  4. Login or register yourself as a citizen.
  5. After successfully logging in, select complaint or e-FIR to open the online complaint form.
  6. Fill out the form with required details including:
    • Your name, address, contact information.
    • Accused details (if known)
    • Date, time, location, and a detailed description of the incident.
    • If available, provide supporting documents such as photos, videos, or other evidence.
  7. Submit the forum.

Finally, note down the reference/case number to track status. You can also visit the local police station to lodge an FIR with designated officer or SHO. Don’t forget to obtain a free copy of FIR and acknowledgement receipt.

To report a cybercrime, call at 1930 or lodge an online complaint through National Cybercrime Reporting Portal. You can also contact the state cyber cell by emailing sp-cyber.lu@up.gov.in.
