To the respective sir/madam ,I am student of Aditya college of engineering and technology (surampalem, andhrapradesh).
Currently,i am studying first year of engineering and I vacated my college hostel after completion of my first semester. They had collected 40%(which is 20300) of my semester hostel for vacating the hostel without any pre information and they sad the reason ,if I vacate the hostel they lose there money .So they are collecting the money for bed purpose and now they allocated the same one other person and collected complete hostel fee from him.
So ,i am requesting you to justify me and get my money which is 20300/- to me and not to happen this for others any more.
Dear @Praneeth Ji, your case involves an unjust deduction of ₹20,300 from your hostel fee after vacating, despite the hostel reallocating your bed to another student and charging them the full fee. This is a clear case of financial exploitation, as the institution is collecting double charges for the same accommodation under the pretense of financial loss.
Since Aditya College of Engineering and Technology (ACET) is affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK), you can escalate the complaint to the university administration, the Andhra Pradesh Higher Education Department, and even the Consumer Court if necessary.
These are formal steps you can take to get your refund and prevent similar issues for future students.
1. Submit a Formal Complaint to College Authorities
Start by writing a complaint letter to the Principal and Hostel Warden of Aditya College of Engineering and Technology. The letter should include:
- Your name, roll number, and contact details
- Details of the unfair deduction (₹20,300 charged without prior notice)
- Proof that the hostel reallocated your bed and collected fees from another student
- A request for a refund and a fair hostel policy for future students
This formal request gives the college an opportunity to resolve the issue internally before you escalate the matter.
2. Escalate to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK)
Since ACET is affiliated with JNTUK, the university has authority over affiliated institutions regarding unfair financial practices.
- File a grievance with JNTUK’s Student Grievance Cell through their student grievance portal (jntuh.ac.in/).
- Attach supporting documents (fee receipts, communication with hostel authorities, proof of bed reallocation)
- Send your complaint via email or registered post to JNTUK’s grievance redressal committee
You can contact JNTUK through their official grievance cell, email, or visit the university in person if required.
3. Report to the Andhra Pradesh Higher Education Department
If JNTUK does not resolve the issue, escalate your complaint to the Andhra Pradesh Higher Education Department, which oversees colleges and universities in the state.
- Submit an online or written complaint through helpline number 1902 or the state public grievance portal,
- Provide all previous correspondence with the college and JNTUK
- Request intervention to stop the unfair financial practice and get a refund
To lodge your complaint online, read this: How can you file complaints about government offices to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister’s Public Grievance Redressal System (AP CMPGRS)?
The Higher Education Department can order the college to refund your money and implement better policies for hostel fee deductions.
4. File a consumer complaint for Unfair Deduction
If the college refuses to refund the amount after multiple escalations, file a consumer complaint for “deficiency of service” and “unfair financial practice.” with the National Consumer Helpline (NCH)
While lodging your complaint, must include these details:
- Attach all supporting evidence (fee receipts, complaint letters, responses, proof of double charging, etc.)
- Demand a refund and compensation for financial and mental stress
You can call at 1915 or lodge an online complaint by following these instructions:
The Consumer Court can legally force the college to refund your money and even impose penalties on them. If still need help, reply to us.
