Where to file complaints about Mangalore Electricity Board (MESCOM)?

Steps to file an online complaint:

  • Visit MESCOM’s consumer portal: https://mescom.karnataka.gov.in/
  • From Services and Schemes, click “Customer Care Center (CCC)”
  • Click “Lodge the complaint”
  • Click the “Quick complaint” or “Register a complaint” option to open the online complaint form
  • Ensure to include your MESCOM Consumer/Connection Number, nature of the complaint, location of the issue, and a detailed description along with any supporting documents.
  • Submit the form.

Finally, note down the reference/ticket ID to track the status of your complaint. If not resolved, escalate it to the internal grievance cell at your sub-divisional offices of the electricity board.

Escalation to Consumer Forum (CGRF):

If your complaint submitted to the customer service center, local power station, and grievance cell at divisional offices of MESCOM remains unresolved, escalate to the Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum (CGRF) of MESCOM at zonal offices. You can submit a grievance form or write your complaint on plain paper, including the reference number from your initial complaint, personal information, the nature of the complaint, and supporting documents.

Approaching Electricity Ombudsman:

If the resolution provided by CGRF of the electricity board does not meet your expectations, or if your complaint remains unresolved after 30 days, you can escalate your grievance to the Electricity Ombudsman (EO) of Karnataka. You must file your complaint within 30 days of receiving the final decision from MESCOM’s CGRF.
