To file a public complaint about government schemes, public services, and officials of central government’s ministries and departments through the Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) portal of the government of India, follow these detailed steps:
Steps to lodge an online public grievance:
- Visit the CPGRAMS public grievance portal (pgportal.gov.in).
- Navigate to the “Register/Login” option to open the form.
- Click the “Click here to sign up” option to register yourself. If you already have an account, log in, or use the MyGrievance App.
- After logging in, click on the ‘lodge public grievance’ link. Agree to the terms & conditions, then click ‘submit’.
- Choose the ministry, department, or state government you wish to lodge a grievance against.
- Provide details by choosing the appropriate category and subcategory for your complaint. Briefly describe your issue and mention any reference numbers if available. Specify the type of relief or compensation sought.
- Attach supporting documents to validate your complaint. Fill in any additional required details.
- Submit the complaint form.
Finally, note the reference number provided to track your grievance’s status on the CPGRAMS portal by clicking “View Status”. After this, the grievance cell will get information/comments from the Public Grievance Officer (PGO) and concerned department or organization, or transfer the grievance to it requesting to directly deal with the matter.
While submitting your grievance, provide supporting documents, earlier attempts for redressal of grievances, and include if you have appealed against any previous decision of the organization or department before any court, tribunal, or consumer forum.
If not resolved, you can also re-submit the online complaint to appeal the Nodal Officers or higher authorities of respective departments.
Note: These complaints/issues will not be taken up for redress of grievances: Cases or any matter concerning judgment given by any court, personal and family disputes, matters under RTI, and Anything that impacts upon the territorial integrity of the country (India) or friendly relations with other countries.

Finally, if you have not got satisfactory redressal of your grievance within the given period or the case involves corrupt practices or misconduct by government officers or employees including public sector units (PSU), escalate this disputed matter to the Directorate of Public Grievances (DPG) with all supporting documents and evidence.
